Rent weapons are heard in the Royal Palace of Saudi Arabia, Drone Fallen Shoot Apparatus
Riyadh - Saudi security forces shot down a "toy" drone that flew near the Saudi Royal Palace in Riyadh on Saturday, 21 April 2018 afternoon local time.
Previously, from videos circulating online, gunfire was heard after a while in the area.
Commenting on the news, a spokesman for the Saudi Police said the shots were a response to officials who saw the drone fly near the palace security post in Khuzama, Riyadh. Similarly, as quoted from Al Jazeera, Sunday (4/22/2018).
Saudi police are investigating the incident, state media SPA said.
The video that circulated online had sparked fears some citizens - thought the incident was a political upheaval or even a coup.
On the other hand, some media in the Middle East are still conducting further independent verification of an incident that occurred near the Royal Palace of Saudi Arabia.
King Salman is not in the location
An anonymous Saudi senior official told Reuters news agency that King Salman was not in his palace at the time of the incident.
"The king is at a royal plantation facility in Diriya, Riyadh," the anonymous official said.
Not just this time the incident surrounding the security disturbance took place at the Royal Palace of Saudi Arabia.
In October 2017, an armed man drove to the gate of the royal palace in the city of the Red Sea of Jeddah and opened fire, killing at least two security guards and injuring three others before being shot dead.
The perpetrator, identified by the Home Ministry as Mansour Al Amri, a 28-year-old Saudi national, was armed with AK rifles and three Molotov cocktails.
