Indian-origin woman police file suit against Scotland Yard

in #busy5 years ago

This is a top female police officer of Indian origin who has filed a lawsuit against Scotland Yard for discrimination against racism and sexism because it was wrongly accused of breaking rules to get Queen’s police medal. This 54-year-old Param Sandhu, a temporary chief superintendent claims that he was denied promotion and opportunities on the job due to his race and gender. He filed a lawsuit in June after allegations of gross misconduct that he violated the police honors rules.

According to Sandhu, there was a discrimination against the internal investigations against the allegations against him that he had encouraged the colleagues to support his nomination for the medal. Under its rules, police officers cannot nominate them, contribute or may know in the process. Sandhu, who joined force in 1989 and is one of the few non-white women officers at the senior level in Scotland Yard, has filed a lawsuit in the employment tribunal claiming compensation.

The Scotland Yard confirmed that the case of an employment tribunal was brought by a senior officer and allegations of "racial and gender discrimination" were included. In this initial stage, we are unable to further comment to defend the claim. Sandhu has the support of the Metropolitan Black Police Association.

Who believes that the lack of senior women ethnic minority officials in Scotland Yard is a matter of concern? In recent years, the number of Scotland Yard personnel is increasing with a non-white background; however, there are some women at the senior level. Neel Basu, the chief of anti-terrorism Indian origin, who had recently led the investigation of the terrorist attacks in London.
