First off, I'd like to thank @daveks for asking me to serve as this week's judge, and also to @papa-pepper for sponsoring this contest.
For me, a nostalgic image is one which portrays a sense of fondness or a longing for some past circumstance, existence or a moment in time. Further, its typically something that can now only be pleasantly recollected and reflected upon.
There were so many wonderfully nostalgic entries in this past week's bwphotocontest, making it a real challenge to pick these winners and honorable mentions.

This is a magnificent addition to the steemit value, @daveks . I mean providing these photo contests. And this B&W contest I have enjoyed especially.
Look at the #1 place winner. What a shot ! Wow!!!
Even the winners listing post brought some disappointment to me (as I also took part in that contest), the good side of it is - it helped to find some nice blogs of other participants.
I do not consider myself a photographer by any means, just a plain camera hobbyist. But naturally, everyone clicking the camera shutter wants to get a good result. And something to be worth to show to others. Because cam clicks are frozen moments. Which never repeats. PS can improve the view. But you can't repeat the moment in time. The time machine is still not invented. So the learning to me is a never ending process.

Hello fellow steemians! First of all i'd like to thank @daveks for hosting this competition. Topic was very creative and very challenging. And was real joy to see so many unique entries. Steem already hosts so many talented people.

I feel you bro, it must have been a real nightmare to pick the winners out of that huge ammount of interestin and compelling photographs :) Congratulations to all the winners and honorable mentions. I am following each and every of you if i already did not. This is also my first prize winning photo too, i hope that you guys liked it and took a glimpse into past and also learned a lesson how to spend your time wisely today so that you do not waste your precious time and are not sorry when you are old. Full steem ahead i am very excited to be a part of this community!
Such an awesome composition which, to me, really conveyed the notion of nostalgia. I really like that you can't see the old woman's face, but yet you know exactly what she is thinking. Great entry @bescouted!!!

Wow i went away this weekend and came back to this awesome news! Thanks to @cognoscere for taking the time out to judge, and to @Daveks for putting together this contest showcasing the photographers on Steemit and to @papa-pepper for his generous support of Stemmit's arts community. Well deserved IMHO @ilanaakoundi, I really liked your capture and it was really hard deciding the ordering among the top three places.
Great composition, nice lighting, and a far-off gaze. I also like that the sign says to keep hands off the doors, yet she has her right hand on the door. Congrats!!!

I loved all of them!! How did you decide on the winners? Thanks for sharing. I loveee black and white photography.
It was harder than I thought is was going to be, as there were so many great entries. I ended up with about thirty entries after viewing all the posts that met the contest criteria. From there, it was the back and forth comparisons that ultimately led to the choices I made. I'm really impressed with how many great photographers we have here on @steemit!!!
Yes!! I know... There are a lot of talented people on this planet and I am just glad to be alive right now.
