Background:
I visited the Shaolin Martial Arts school in Yinchuan, China, two years ago, where I took a portrait photo of this kid during his training. Kids and teens live and breathe the Shaolin Martial Arts. In the morning they study, then have lunch, and the rest of the time they do grueling training. Some of these kids are very young, and only have 1 day a month to visit home. Not sure how long the training goes for, but this kid pictured apparently has been there for 2 years. Most of the training happens outside, on the street or within the compound.
