MEP horizontal cable trays with the back against the wall

in #cabletray2 months ago

Hello,

Could anyone please tell me how to draw cable ladder that is horizontal and also with the back against the wall? I attach several images with the ladder in question circled in red. Image number 4 is from my own project - the circled part IS a ladder, but I could not make it look nice, so for time being I switched the height and width around and ended with this monstrosity 🙂 The idea in my project is that cables come from the top, then switch to a ladder that is on the side and enters the building and then the ladder continues same way on the side of the wall.

I tried rotating it, I tried slope setting, but just couldn't figure it out.

I am looking forward to your tips,

Sincerely,

Jakob

For drawing a horizontal cable ladder against the wall, I had a similar issue once. Rotating it didn’t quite work out for me either, but I found a workaround that was less expensive than an add-on.

One trick is to set up a vertical cable tray, then use the section tool to rotate it into place, like you tried, but without needing extra software.
If you’re installing these for real, though, setting up under-desk or wall-mounted trays can be straightforward with the right tools. I’ve picked up a few from https://tecnotools.com.au/collections/under-desk-cable-tray that are easy to fit against walls or even under desks, and they keep everything pretty tidy.
