Early 2010's many Filipinos moved to other peaceful towns of Manitoba. Year 2013, my sister who was from London, Europe moved to Portage la Prairie City. It's 85kms away from the east of Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, has a population of 10,000 at that time. She felt in love with the simplicity of the city , humbleness of the people and well preserved structures of Portage la Prairie. Portage was first inhabited by North American Indigenous people then by the European immigrants. My sister love the composure of nature here, cause Assiniboine river is channeling here, it has lake and the soils are fertile.m1.jpg

I learned that driving your own vehicle is their means of transportation, since there's no bus just like other Canadian cities. As a new immigrant, I first started driving a bike going to work. It's quite a struggle but the good thing in Portage la Prairie, ithas clean air and concrete pavement in the streets. bike1.jpg

After earning sufficient dollars, I went to Chevrolet car dealership to get an SUV vehicle. I explored other magnificent sites here in Portage la Prairie and met new friends specially the Native Northern Americans. Portage offers great scenery and well brewed Tim Horton's coffee.tims.jpg

I love the diverse culture here and its peace & order. Residents are cooperative to the community and helpful to one another, so it's a great place to settle in with your family. All the small business establishment are just nearby and
there's no crazy traffic.

I really felt blessed to be part of this community and grateful to the the cheerful people in this simple city of Portage la Prairie.
