Canada Day Camping Trip

in #canada5 years ago

Hello. I'm new to Steem. My friend is helping me on board.

I'm going to write here mostly about Canada. My favourite place is the forests of Central Ontario. I'm sick of the city and want to move there. Eventually, I will buy a property up there. I've already saved up quite a lot.

I was actually just up north fishing and Camping for a week. I took my kayak, fishing gear, a tent, basic camping gear, food, some smoke and a couple of bottles of whiskey with me.

I don't really want to talk much about fishing. I caught a few and even ate one of them. I just drag a line from the back of my kayak when crossing lakes and hope to get lucky. I'll do a few casts at dusk and dawn while watching the sunset and sunrise. Actually, that's the best time to fish. Usually, I'm in the water from 8 am to 5 pm and I stop for lunch in the forest during the hottest part of the day from 11 to 2. I actually make a good distance since I'm on the move for 6 hours a day. Maybe one time I'll share my plan and my location, but I don't really want it to become popular.

I guess for people who haven't spent 1 week away from it all that seems a little strange, but it is really relaxing. I have my phone in my bag in case I get lost or in trouble, but I usually try my best not to turn it on (not even for photos). It barely works anyway where I go since there are no towers in the area. I have a kindle to stop myself from being too bored, but generally, I just go to bed at dark which isn't really until 10 pm in the early summer. I look forward to doing this every year. I had a week off work and went just over 7 days without much civilization. Fortunately, I can swim in the clean lakes.

I usually go camping to celebrate the best holiday in Canada. It was Canada Day on Monday, July 1st. This year Canada was celebrating its 152nd b-day! I know for some people it's not an old country. But the rocks in the area I was camping are billions of years old, so the land is as old as it gets.

When I get home from the bush, I am always really hungry. As soon as I shower, I eat.

This time I made some poutine. It's the best snack to eat. It's not the healthiest thing in the world, but it's delicious. Homemade fries, gravy, and soft mozzarella cheese! I know the cheese is slightly off, but I didn't feel like grocery shopping.

I'm sorry if I wrote anything that offends you =p
Thank you for reading, eh :)

How were the bugs? This time of year they are especially bad in the deep woods.
