The Art Of Breeding Cannabis And The Beauty Of The Plants

in #cannabis5 years ago (edited)

DJ Short has been an underground celebrity and legend in the field of cannabis breeding since the late 70s, and I have the distinct pleasure of working with this man on various art, design and branding projects. He is a visionary, humble, compassionate and a delightful person to interact with, and he is also responsible for creating one of the most iconic cannabis strains in history - the Blueberry. This and several other results of his innovative cultivation technique have become the foundation for some of the best known strains on today's market.

DJ, which is an abbreviation for Daniel John, occasionally collaborated with his son JD, who is a breeder as well and also has a passion for cannabis photography. I want to show some of these photos with you that show the plants in different states of development, mostly right around harvesting time. Keep in mind that DJ Short is in the cannabis seeds selling business so there will be seeds visible on some of the male plants. A link to DJ's website (created by yours truly) is below the pics for those who want more info in regards to obtaining his seeds.

The first two images show a poster I created for DJ, featuring some good old school typography and one of his latest creations, the Velvet Krush strain. Enjoy.

So sick you know Dj Short! He is a true icon, and the Dj Short Blueberry is a testiamate to his legacy. I actually grew a Dj Short BB cross last year, and I am still beating myself up for not taking any cuts.

So check this out, Steem now has a cannabis front end, https://weedcash.network/. You can either log in over there with your positng key, and post normally like you do, and your post is published on Weedcash, and Steem. Or you can post from Steem, and use the tag, #weedcash. You may be able to still change it. If you do I will reset my vote so you can earn the Steem Engine Token, Weed.

Hi @jonyoudyer, thanks for reaching out. I just changed one of my tags to weedcash as you recommended. Did not know about that network and I'm glad you pointed it out. I'll definitely check it out. Peace!

Right on, it worked! Yeah man we are growing our community, and am excited to spread the love. My steem upvote is worth nothing, but my Weed up vote is worth way more. We can help you learn the ropes, cause all this can confusing.

But all that to the side, im on a hiatus from growing, but those bud shots are making me want to hurry the hell up and set back up again. Nothing crazy, just on the personal level.

I bread a kali mist with a bubba kush, god dang it turned out to be nice seeds. Breeding is fun :))

OH man, i would love to see some posts! If you do, just don't forget the cannabis, and weedcash tag, then I wont miss it, and can show you some love.

Great artwork, i really love the vintage style and colours you chose:) Amazing photos also, all of them are beauties to behold and smoke, lol. I am happy that you found your tribe and people at steem, the platform is all about communites of different interests getting together try new projects and share ideas and a good laugh:)

Thank you George. Yea it has been great since I returned - haven't been on here for the whole year since I found it tough to connect with people here in the past. It was all about the money and everybody was just so desperately into promoting their own stuff that it was so hard to figure out who was real. I think people have relaxed a bit and actually start to enjoy themselves,

Well there were a lot of changes this year and the community focused more in human interaction. Its much better this way but unfortunaly a lot of people left the platform. Its ok, we will wait for the next wave of fresh users:)

There was a certain type of people that needed to leave, the ones that treated this platform like a cow they needed to milk. They always show up when they smell there's a buck to be made. After they suck the blood out of everyone they usually move on. Ugh.

Well, most of them left and also a lot of big time and small time scammers. The problem is that now the community is much smaller and in dire need of new users in order to survive. So if you feel that you could suggest the platform to other artists or passionate people it would help a lot. In my opinion there is no better time than now for someone to show her/his work at steemit:)

Ohh that is hella dope, Amazing Pictures!

Thank you much, lots more to come.

Thanks @canna-curate, yes, I'd like that. Working closely together with DJ I might have something to offer to the tribe. Cheers.

Your photos are works of art. Amazing to see the beauty that these plants have. It really brings a whole new appreciation to the cannabis world. Thanks for posting.

Thank you and yes, I agree, their visual appeal is still way underrated.
