HELP! It’s still difficult to attain Cannabis in California

In January, California legalized marijuana for recreational use and dispensaries soon began to sell. Some cities began to quickly adapt and saw businesses flourish, while others adopted comprehensive regulations and others shut out cannabis completely. In other words, they completely banned the sale and distribution of the Devil’s lettuce.

Economists pointed out that the Black Market would continue to thrive due to high taxation and how certain cities, within the state, were banning the sale and distribution. This caused the progressive and liberal city of Berkeley to lower taxation to prevent the Black Market from having a chance to compete.
Still, many Californians reside in areas where Maryjane is still difficult to attain.

This is my stoner dilemma.

I currently reside in a small conservative town (population: 15,000) where there hasn’t been regulations for businesses to sell or to distribute marijuana. Also, no business has attempted to open or run a dispensary (that I know of). The town is situated away from a much bigger city that has banned the sale and distribution of marijuana.

I’m staying with family members as I recover from chemotherapy. Till I fully recover, I’m unable to work and function normally for the next few months.
While, I was in chemotherapy in the city, my Brother would visit and often bring me a cannabis vape cartridge. They’d often cost about 20$ for 1/2 a gram.

Soon, surging hospital bills, even with insurance, began to creep up and stack along with credit card debt.

I believe, that in the future, insurance will cover medicinal marijuana.

Thanks to weedmaps I was able to find one marijuana delivery service that delivers cannabis to this area with a 45$ minimum. However, a medical marijuana recommendation by a doctor is required due to the ban and distribution of recreational marijuana (My recommendation for medical cannibis expired a year ago).

The lowest online remote service, that I found, offers recommendations for 39.99$.

Total cost for recommendation and medicinal herb would be about 85-90$

That’s more than what I currently can spend. This is where the Black Market comes in.

I quickly discovered Twitter accounts, usually from Oregon or Colorado, that openly advertise selling and sending cannabis to all 50 states. However, their minimum amount to purchase is higher than what I can budget.

My Brother found a plug in this small town two days ago. I quickly purchased an 1/8th for 30$ (A little high, but it’s local- I thought).

The second I saw the baggie, I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. My Brother claimed it was compressed, but I quickly knew we got ripped off. This unknown strain, that was probably a little over a dime bag, was smoked in less than 24 hours.
