The Volkswagen Group of Germany has pledged to produce at least one electric version of all the current models produced by the group of about 300 models.
The company announced its new plan on Monday as the Frankfurt Motor Show kicked off as part of its efforts to improve its reputation for the scam in the US emissions test.
The company said it would invest about 20 billion euros ($ 24 billion) in new car production, factory modernization, workforce training and battery technology.
Volkswagen promised to produce 80 new electric cars by 2025, including 50 fully powered cars and 30 hybrid engines. The company said in November 2016 that it aspires to be the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer by 2025.
The Volkswagen Group has 12 brands, most notably Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini.
