How to Treat a Carpet Burn
I've have a few carpet burns before. Some of them are more severe than others. I've found a few cures for them. Make sure to wash your hands if your using bare hands to touch the burn. Some of these tactics may sting the carpet burn.
- To treat the burn immediately, put cold water on it so it can cool down.
- Aloe. Aloe is found in many different forms: Gel, spray, liquid, lotion, and cream. The strongest form is from the plant itself.
- Put honey on it. This can provide relief from itching and help speed up healing.
- Use iodine, hydrogen peroxide, or an antiseptic if there are signs of dirt in the abrasion, or if any bleeding areas are deep. Soak a cotton ball in iodine, peroxide, or antiseptic and carefully dab it on the burn. These can all sting once applied
- Make sure any rough fabric doesn't rub on it. It can make it worse. Try putting gauze (if it's a big carpet burn), or apply a band-aid (for a small burn)
Hopefully some of these work. Also, carpet burns normally get better from a week or so. Once it's almost healed, you might find that the carpet itches. It's totally normal.
