When the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder convertible was launched, aficionados have already had a high expectation of it because of its look and its powerful engine. Little do we know that when tested and fully reviewed, this car even exceeds expectation. So good it makes you want to run away with it in any country. Check out our full review here and find out why riding the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder is like riding a million bucks.

The Perfect Look
Aesthetically, it leaves no doubt. The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder convertible is spectacular. Perhaps it loses some of the elegance of the first generation of the Audi R8 but wins in sportiness. It abandoned the curves to look more intimidating appearance, leaning against the horizontality and a greater sense of width lines and the new design of the rear view is worthy of drooling. I assure you that if you leave it parked on the street more than five minutes, people around it will be attracted like flies to honey.

Audi remains faithful to the soft top , thanks to the use of carbon fibre in its mechanism, only weighs 44 kg. This can be folded up (up to 50 km / h) and in only 20 seconds. I must say that the soundproofing is sensational as well.

The Perfect Performance
But it's not just a pretty face. The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder convertible is very fast. Real fast. After the seats, at the rear center position, hides the atmospheric V10 5.2 litre engine that drives the Audi R8 V10 Spyder 2017. It has 540 hp and powerful torque, a generous figure that becomes absurd. Its thrust is not something crazy but is just perfect. Typical of a supercharged mechanics is a linear, constant, powerful thrust that can accelerate from zero to sixty in 3.6 seconds and always accompanied by an incredible engine melody that will make you forget the fantastic sound of its Bang and Olufsen speakers mounted perfectly.

The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder also has the perfect dynamism. To do this, Audi has worked conscientiously to get a car 'almost' as good as the coupe version. Audi set out to create the total convertible. I mean, there are several assumptions on the table before starting these project elements that you will not be surprised. Undoubtedly the most important in a convertible as the new Audi R8 V10 Spyder is to maintain torsional rigidity as possible. Audi Sport has worked hard on it and offers a new chassis technology Audi Space Frame that primarily combines aluminium with carbon fibre. The pillar and other elements of the car have also been strengthened to not lose too much rigidity regarding the coupe. With that makes the Audi R8 convertible is lighter and stiffer frame together only adds 208 kg on the scale while improving stiffness by 55% compared to the previous generation.

The Perfect Feel
The steering feels light and precise, steering is very quick and feel what's going on underneath, but we wish it were a tad hard, at least in the dynamic mode. Yes, the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Spyder has four driving modes: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual. Each modifies the behaviour of the engine, the exhaust, the hardness of the Magnetic Ride suspension or transmission. I put it in comfort mode and you'll be amazed its ability to circulate normal roads, perfect for everyday use.

And, in my view, that is the great achievement of this car. It is a super but also a usable car, away from models as Lamborghini or Ferrari, harder in all aspects. The Audi R8 V10 Spyder gives you everything you would need.

And last but not least, it is over 10% more efficient than its predecessor. The Audi R8 V10 Spyder incorporates several elements to minimise consumption, such as cylinder disconnection or mode Circular 'sailing' . Thus achieved an average consumption of 11.7 litres standardising average consumption of only 8.7 litres.

The Verdict
The 2017 Audi R8 V10 Spyder is the perfect car. It looks and feels like a million bucks car and for only $180000 (around £140000). Honestly, we can't find anything wrong about it except one may find it hard to choose from a long and impressive list of exterior colours. Green, blue, yellow, black, white. Very complex problem. Really.
