My Top 4 of Upcoming Electric Cars for 2018
My expertise in automotive is purely my interest so I summed up the top 4 upcoming electric cars for 2018 for you:
My Top 4 of Upcoming Electric Cars for 2018
2017 brought to us some great electric vehicles that were stylish, efficient, safer and more powerful than their predecessors. There is an exciting EV lineup ready for the roads this year as well. My upcoming electric cars list won’t include the vehicles like 2018 Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model 3 because they are already launched in select markets. I will stick to vehicles actually coming in 2018.
2019 Jaguar I-Pace
One of the coolest upcoming electric cars for 2018, the 2019 Jaguar I-pace is all set to hit the roads in the second quarter of this year featuring two powerful electric motors that are built to yield a combined 400 horsepower and a 516 pound-feet of torque. The jaunty and modish all-electric SUV houses a 90-kWh battery pack that delivers at least 220 miles range. According to the automaker, the luxury five-seater is capable to achieve a 0-to-60-mph milestone in just 4 seconds. The price is expected to be around $76,000.
2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro
Rivaling the I-Pace is the Audi E-Tron Quattro - an impressive all-electric SUV slated for an early 2018 launch. The vehicle will feature a 95 kWh battery enabling it to deliver a maximum range of almost 275 miles as per EPA-cycle. According to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), the range could be almost 310 miles. It will also feature three electric motors, one of which will power the front axle, while the other two will send the force to the rear axle. The all-electric vehicle will be capable of generating 496 horsepower and a whopping 590 pound-feet of torque enabling it to reportedly achieve 62.1 mph speed in only 4.6 seconds. With 21.7 cubic feet of cargo area, four-passenger capacity, a brand new redo of the digital cockpit and semi-autonomous driving technology, this one should be on the top of your buying list. The price is not confirmed yet but hopefully, it won’t be close to I-Pace and Model X.
2018 BMW i3s
The BMW i3s has been revamped for a wider, more elegant 2018 model featuring improved acceleration, a larger 94-Ah battery pack (33.2-kWh) as standard offering 114 miles of maximum all-electric range. The redesigned i3s produces 184 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque that enable it to achieve the 60 mph milestone in 6.8 seconds. While the 114 miles range is something to look forward to, there is an option of selecting the range-extending gas engine (REX) for you. With the trendy sports-borne look, latest infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and an optional larger screen, i3s is not a bad choice at all.
2019 Kia Niro EV
While 2017 saw the arrival of Kia Niro hybrid SUV, all eyes are set for the launch of the plug-in hybrid variant. However, that’s not all! " According to the automaker, the all-electric crossover will see the light of the day at the end of the year as a 2019 model offering a 200 to 300 miles driving range, which can further be extended with stronger battery options. The Niro EV will be much like its hybrid sibling built on the same concept as the Hyundai Ioniq. The production will be limited to around 20,000 units with an expected price of $39,000.
