#140 One Day, One Car

in #cars7 years ago

Today from Germany with the iconic sports model from the late 70's...

The car? The BMW M1

The genuine concept car was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1972 under the codename BMW Turbo Studie. The final version was shown in Paris in 1978. The M1 model was designed by the famous Giugiaro and was on the market from 1978 to 1981 but considered as a fail release due to its high production price.

Powered by the same engine as the M635 CSI 3.5L 24 valves for 277 HP.

There were 399 manufactured cars for public use and 56 in racing version.

Did you know?

In 2004, the magazine Sports Car International included the M1 in the list of TOP 10 sports cars released in 70's.

The price?* Today you can get it at the auction for 94 BTC or 736.372 USD.

Back then cars like this had caracter and soul. Now all of them are the same. Piece of art, love it!

I do agree for the most part but there are still brands out there which really respects car enthusiasts and engineer some real pieces of art/technology... :)
