Is you auto insurance invalid even if you are making your payments?
ohaughey here. For vehicle registration and insurance, here is a tip for you. I n order for your insurance provider to pay on your insurance, if and when you are in an accident, you should know that if your registration is not current, your insurance is not valid and the insurance provider will not pay you a diime even if your payments are up to date. This is written into every auto insurance policy I know of. Like wise your driver's License must be current and valid as well. If either one of these are not current and valid and you get into an accident, you are on your own baby.
Not only that but, if you are stopped by a traffic officer for a traffic violation the first thing he will ask for is your vehicle registration and proof of insurance and your driver's license. He will then run those things to see if they are current and valid. If there is a problem with either one of them he will not let you drive anymore. Huh? Yeah, he will, most likely, issue you la citation and release you on your way on foot. Your car will be impounded and placed in storage until you take care of the problem and bail it out. I don't know what that will cost you where ever you might be but, in San Francisco the tow is $250.00 and $5.00 a day for storage. So, if you get into an accident and your registration is expired, you will most likely get the double wammy. So, take my friendly advice and keep both your driver's license and your registration current. Thank you.
