Cartesi is a Linux-based operating system for decentralized applications (DApps). With Cartesi, developers use familiar and powerful Linux-supported software components to build their DApps. They are free from the hassle of blockchain-related limited domain environments. DApps from Cartesi will be portable between the most suitable blockchains, so developers do not need to worry about the longevity of specific blockchain projects.

Using Cartesi gives DApps developers the following capabilities:

  1. record programs suitable for checking and reproducing the execution states of decentralized applications through different network nodes;
  2. rely on the efficiency of off-chain processing;
  3. apply any data source of any size that you need;
  4. obtain consensus on the states of programs running outside the network;
  5. Deal with disputes with minimal chain costs.

An important characteristic of Cartesi is the use of hybrid DApps, which use not only blockchain, but also third-party technologies (powers of Cartesi Machines). Thanks to this solution, it becomes possible to bridge the power and computing gap that exists between smart contracts and conventional computer systems. This allows you to solve problems without taking into account the restrictions that arise when using blockchain technologies.

Possible applications of Cartesi

The blockchain is known to be useful in various fields, but the described system will be most effective in several directions. These include:
Software. Due to the decentralized system, developers can take advantage of new technological possibilities to create various applications.

Finance. Cartesi data utilization capabilities allow for complex calculations, which is a clear benefit for financial services.

Research. Cartesi allows you to take advantage of blockchain advantages such as security, accessibility and high technical capabilities, which facilitates scientific research.

Logistics. Due to the blockchain, it is possible to optimize the logistics process, make it simpler and more understandable and significantly save on spending.

Blockchain games. Thanks to the presence of third-party technologies in the Cartesi system, the gaming process will become more comfortable, as it will not depend on restrictions on the part of the blockchain.

Additional project details

The project team includes professionals from various fields, whose experience helps them to successfully implement their knowledge in practice in the form of a developed product. The main project advisors include Sergey Popov (co-founder of IOTA) and Stas Oskin (co-founder of WINGS).
