The doubling scam of casinos

THE DOUBLING SCAM

Let’s dive right in. The most used system that helps a “single mother from (insert a city close to you) make 3 000 USD a day” is the double the bet system. It goes like this: You bet on a color of your choice, let’s say RED. If you lose, you double the amount and bet on RED again. If you lose again, you double the amount yet again and simply keep doubling and betting on the same color until you win. The idea is that when you do eventually win, your previous losses are covered plus you get your profit. They tell you that the chances of one color being drawn is 50%, chances of it being drawn two times in a row is therefore 25%, four times 12.5%, five times 6.25% etc. The right color has to eventually hit. So in a few moves, you have to win.
Ingenious, right?

Not really. We have run a 10 000 000 simulated roulette spins and found out that chances of one color being drawn even 10 or 20 consecutive times are quite high. In the long run, they are guaranteed to happen. “So what,” you might say, “I just keep doubling until I win!” But think about it. If you start with a 10 USD bet. if you have to double it 10 times, you would have to bet 10 240 USD. Yes, you are seeing this correctly. If you don’t believe us, do the math yourself. Now even if you are willing to bet this kind of money, you will most likely hit a table limit and lose your money. Even if you start with 1 USD bet, most table limits are well below 1000 USD.
Simply put, even if it works in the first minutes or even hours, statistically speaking, later you are bound to lose everything you have won before and more. Stay away from that :)
