Curator Cat Sunday Extra: Moments of Gratitude

in #cats6 years ago

It's late Sunday night, and it's a cold and raining evening here in the Pacific Northwest.

I am napping under the halogen lamp on my Hooman's desk. It's nice and warm, and I have a soft clean towel to sleep on. I have a full belly... and life is good!

I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to be grateful for what you have, in this Holiday season. Even if things seem difficult and tough, and maybe you're depressed about the crypto slump or something else in your world... remember, there are almost always things we can be grateful for.

And — as my Hooman is fond of pointing out — The best things in life are not "things."

Love, friendships, connections, laughter, comfort... and a full belly.

Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend!

I have to agree with you. My human mom has been upset and down today. She needs some kitty love!

Kitty love is very important (and healing!) when things are not going well...

Pacific Northwest? I'm from Portland, Oregon originally. I just love cats! But, in Korea, cats are not very well accepted. And it's even hard to find a good cat here. In America, many cats are laid-back and friendly. but in Korea most cats just run away or scratch you.

We're on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington... wild, woolly and windy!

I guess different cultures have different takes on cats; I know they are super popular in Japan, more of a "utility animal" in China, occasionally food in Vietnam... not sure about Korean social culture when it comes to cats, although I do know a couple of Koreans here on Steemit who post a lot of cat content.

=^..^=

Generally, in Korea, the general idea of a cat is that it is a pest, kinda like a mole or some sort of rodent. Most Koreans will most likely run away when they see a cat, screaming, "The eyes! The eyes! I hate the eyes!" They think cats' eyes are scary./ I think this must be one of the reasons why the cat culture of Korea is not very nice. Cats don't get respect here in this country, and so, adult cats relay this message to their offspring, creating a cat culture. / Yes. Some Koreans here on Steemit post about their cats. They are very special, and they don't have anyone else to talk to about their cat because everyone would run away if it were off-line! They are just sharing their bottled-up feelings here on Steemit because they like cats. An interesting Korean cat blogger I know is @dorian-lee. But I just checked his blog and the last time he posted about his cat was 24 days ago. A cat here in Korea costs around $1000 USD and the only place to get one is at a pet shop or big mall. / In the U.S., I remember we could get a cat for free if we researched it! / As for me? I am definitely a cat lover. Not much of a "dog-person". But I have students come to my house every day, and they would quit if they saw a cat roaming around. It kinda makes me sad...

Yes, things could always be worse...

Yes they could... and I try to remember that, and be grateful that it is not so.

Sending Love, Purrs & Hedbonks..!! As I was reading this a downpour started here in Tampa, FLA. The big noisy raindrops sounding almost like Hailstones on the roof of this Big Rig. SammiJo absolutely HATES RAIN. Well, Me thinks it's the noise more than the water part. She jumped up on the bunk and hunkered down beside me. I got ya SamSam, no worries. Cuddle Kitty (7).jpg

She's a sweetie! I'm pretty sure "big rain" on a track cab roof can make a lot of noise, and that's scary for a cat. A long time ago, we would give one of my old cat baths from time to time, and he didn't actually mind the water itself... the problem was the sound of the tap running sounding a bit like a hissing cat. When we just presented warm water in a plastic tub, he'd get in under his own steam.
