HANG SON DOONG – THE LARGEST CAVE IN THE WORLD
Caves are very important in our history. Primitive people scurries and lived at this type of natural land formation. It varies their size –from small ones to very large ones.
There's a place in Vietnam where in the mountains, the people hear noises that creeps them out and prevents them from entering the place. But in 1991, a local named Ho Kanh took the risk to see what really the 'creepy noises' are.
Just then he discovered the now largest cave in the world, named HANG SON DOONG. The cave is 200 meters high, 150 meters wide and 5 kilometers long.
If you can imagine that dimensions, lets say a building is 200 meters high, each with 4 meter floors each, so the cave was as high as a building. with 50 floors. And it have a 38 –story building wide.
Granted with this very large inside, the cave now has its own vegetation and climate. It also has its own river. Trees and animals also live here, so it may be hosting its own ecosystem too.
The ceilings have holes that may have collapsed because of acid rain and earthquakes, so the cave are penetrated with sunlight for the vegetation and its forest to live.
The largest of stalagmites and stalactites can be found there, one measuring up to 70 meters long (almost a building of 18 floors)
The place is dubbed as the Great Wall of Vietnam, and have few tourists because the government only allow a few companies to set a tour inside this great cave.
For August 2020 the cave will be submerged in water because of the high tide phenomenon which will last up to February 2021. The government will only permit 1000 tickets up to that day, each costs US$3000, so if you want an adventure then this cave will probably satisfy you.
