LET THERE BE LIGHT

in #celestialchallenge7 years ago (edited)

That phrase is a common one as it is originally found in the bible. In this article, science meets divinity as we will see how one single proclamation brought about the creation of a 6000 degree Celsius hot phenomenon.

In the book of Genesis 1:2, 3. After the bible tells us that there was darkness all over, in verse 3 however, God said -‘Let there be light and there was light’. Many may fail to understand the simplicity of that proclamation but yet the complexity of its outcome.
In that single proclamation, a spectacular star was created. One that proved to be key in our existence on earth.

That star is the sun. It is located at the center of the solar system. It is almost a perfect sphere. It has a diameter of approximately 1.39 million km. 109 times bigger than the earth. Its composition is mainly 73% hydrogen, 25% helium together with smaller proportions of oxygen, neon, carbon and iron.

Did you know that half of a billionth of the suns energy output is what reaches us here on earth? Wow. The crumbs that fall from the table when we eat is likened to the energy we receive from the sun namely light and heat.

Let’s look at another fun fact. When u go out at night and look at the stars u notice that some of them have varied brightness. I mean some tend to blink, or increase its brightness and then suddenly reduces its light. However our sun has reduced variation in brightness. Its level of brightness is almost constant.

Some might say that during the day under the hot sun, there are times when there is a reduction of light and heat and suddenly the light and heat comes again. Well, those variations are not the suns. There are as a result of movement of thick clouds in the sky that tend to filter the light and heat from the sun. Thus the suns luminosity is highly stable.

Lastly, another interesting fact is the distance of the sun from the earth. The sun is about 149,600,000 km away from the earth. If the sun was a little bit closer to the earth, we would all burn and die. Likewise, if the sun was a bit farther from the earth than its present position, we would all die of cold. So, its position is perfect for life to be.

Some scientists would say that the characteristics and makeup of the sun, its size and position from the earth is a mere coincidence or happened as a result of some coincidental mixture of elements in outer space. They would say that our source of light came by chance. Well, the composition, characteristics, position and size of the sun shows so much precision and intention. This source of light and life could only be made by a highly intelligent, hardworking and powerful Designer- God

He said let there be light, and all the ideas he had in his mind about the position of the sun from earth, its composition, its temperature, its viscosity, its mean radiance, its angular size, its visual brightness, its mass, its average density, its moment of inertia factor, its obliquity. Everything he had in mind to create the sun, simply came to be and yes ‘there was light’.
