DAILY CELESTIAL CHALLENGE/ THURSDAY - FORCES IN NATURE(tsunamis)
Tsunami is a Japanese word used to designate a tsunami, which literally means "wave in the harbor" or "in the bay" (tsu = port or bay, nami = waves).
It is a complex event that involves a group of waves of great energy and variable size that can occur when an extraordinary phenomenon vertically displaces a large body of water. This type of waves removes a quantity of water much higher than the surface waves produced by the wind.

Consequences of a tsunami
Tsunamis that reach the coast or cause a lot of damage. Some of them are:
• The damage caused by the wave when hitting the coast: Drag objects that hit against others and on the earth's surface. When the water is removed we can see the magnitude of the destruction of everything that was found in its path.
• Damage caused by floods: light objects or objects that are not in the state of the floating subjects in the water. Many floods caused by tsunamis have destroyed crops and livestock, important means of subsistence for these populations. Damages due to the weakening of the foundations: these damages affect buildings, roads, railway lines and other means of communication.
