How to recycle an old cell phone? Transform it into a router or 4 more things

A Motorola Mobility study, conducted through CIO Research, found that 36 percent of Argentines switch their smartphone in the first or second year after purchasing it, while 34 percent do so in the third or fourth year. This means that after a few years we will have a real collection of smartphones that we no longer use going around our house. In addition to taking up space and multiplying the number of porters per inhabitant, can they serve anything?
Turn it into a router
All relatively modern smartphones have the option of "sharing" their Internet. Both to other mobile devices and to computers with wi-fi antenna. If we have a wireless connection in our home we can build a home mini-router using the old smartphone as "bridge" between one connection and another.

Manufactures a home e-reader
The old smartphones with the screen still in condition can perfectly serve as electronic readers. Thanks to applications like Alreader, Aldiko or Bookari, which allow reading different types of text format, the old cell phone can be used as a tablet to read.

A security and control system
It seems an obvious statement, but smartphones; Even the most humble, are small but powerful computers. That is why, with a little ingenuity, they can be assembled
Applications like IP Webcam (Android), Manything (iPhone) or Alfred (applies for both platforms) allow to monitor the entrance to the house. It can even be used as a "baby call".

Replacement Remote Control
If the old device has an infrared device, then it can be reconverted into a remote control for the TV. For that, only need to install applications like IR Universal Remote or Peel Smart Remote.
