How much would this meal cost where you are? Part 7 - at Alitalia/Hamburg
Hello from Hamburg once more!!
Time for my global food price comparison, by having for today something new for a change (thank you Alitalia for your new menu of the week). Today's choice was Salmon fish with potatoes and honey-mustard sauce. This was accompanied by a tomato soup in the beginning (along with bread, all included in the menu price). Not sure how they look from the pictures, but the final verdict is good , not great.
The tomato soup was pretty good, not too hot but not cold either, bread is always amazingly soft and a little hot , giving a flavor of a freshly baked(or reheated, i know, but i can always hope!) bread. Main dish was trying to reach the level of the soup, but just couldnt make it up to that level. Fish was sympathetic, potatoes were nicely cooked , not too soft and too hard while cutting them. However, the sauce was kind of weird, and since i generally like a lot honey-mustard sauce, i think the element of mustard was too strong for my taste. Furthermore, maybe i would prefer less 'saucy', but again, thats probably because the flavor of mustard was too much for me.
Overall, i would still order it again next time, if i had no other dishes that i would wish to try (I would prefer it once more from going to the local canteen)
Location: Hamburg
Restaurant: Alitalia
Price: 11E
This meal would have cost around 8 USD in taiwan which for taiwan is a quite decent lunch / dinner.
Hah! That's an easy one to answer. Over here in the Netherlands we have roughly the same prices. I think 11E if it is not a combo is very realistic. In the Netherlands you usually pay something like 25E for three basic courses; starter, main, and desert. But then it is almost always without the drinks.
We have several of those "all you can eat" places where you can maybe get the drinks included. But then the food will not be of the quality that you are displaying in your picture. Then it's more like rice and saté and a whole bunch of beers to make it go down a little smoother haha :)
That meal would cost about $25 where I live in Texas.
That doesnt sound too bad i would say, although i have heard that portions are huge compared to Europe!
So true. Portions are enormous here. My wife and I usually order an appetizer and one meal for both of us. They want to justify charging a higher price for each customer that walks in the door is my guess.
Manhattan New York prices. Salmon could be more depending on market price.
Salmon entree 25-30$
Tomato soup appetizer 7-9$
Looks like pretty big portions there... I'd say around $15 at a cafeteria? I think Ikea might do it for even cheaper, maybe $11.
Nice pictures, following you now :)
around 6 Eur in my country Kosovo
