Sports #Michael Owen predicts where Chelsea will finish next season
Michael Owen believes that Chelsea will be the team to beat in the Premier League next season.
The Blues were by far the Premier League’s most consistent team last season as they impressed in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge at the club.
Chelsea won 30 games in the top flight on their way towards winning their second title in three years under Conte.
The west London side will now be looking to defend their crown as they look to retain the title in Conte’s second campaign in charge.
That may prove more difficult, given that the Blues will also be competing in the Champions League next season after missing out last term.
The Blues have been active in the summer transfer window and have so far signed Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero.
And former Liverpool striker Owen feels that Chelsea will be the clear favourites to retain their title next term.
Speaking in an interview with Metro, Owen said: “At the moment, you’d have to say Chelsea are the team to beat and are worthy favourites.
“They won the league at a canter last season and all the other teams were a fair way off.
“You look at Tottenham, who haven’t really strengthened this summer and are playing at Wembley so there’s some question marks there.
“There’s still a long way to go in the summer window but you’d have to say Chelsea are going to be the team to beat again.”
