A Tradition in Storytelling.

in #children7 years ago

When I was a child my dad would put us to sleep with fanciful tales of The Cradle Tree. These stories spanned large periods of time from when the Earth was created to modern day. The tree starts as a seed, created by gnomes and fairies and the series ends when a hole created by removing the ancient stump creates a portal to hell. My dad's creativity knew no end. Most of these stories are only to be found in his head and in our memories. Encouragement to write them down has saved only a few.

As chance, or genetics, would have it, I too have the storytelling bug. My series started 8 years ago when my daughter was 4. We created a fanciful world named after a character she named. A gnome by the name of Yag, and therefore a land named Yagland. There we fight evil dragons and converse with animals and fairies. We are retrieved when needed by a Pegasus who enters our world umdetected. Even our deceased kitty Cali-coe and a plethera of cousins and friends have been in on the adventures.

Unfortunatly, these stories, like those of my fathers, are stuck in my head and the memories of the children they have been told to.

My goal is to share these wonderful and fanciful stories with you, and release them for all to enjoy and for my children to have long after their grandpa and I are gone.

I think this is a wonderful place to share some wonderfully crafted stories. Looking forward to seeing what you have to share!

How sweet! I wish I could tell stories out loud better... It's a great idea to write them down, and it would be cool if you and your daughter illustrated it too!
