Children are people (too!)

Children are people!

Now, think about it.. Children have rights, they are human and they are people.

..when I see you putting your child on a leash "for their own safety"
How would you feel if you weren't allowed to walk where you want? Did you know that children don't develop the capacity to just walk alongside you until they are 7 years old? They don't see the point, the world is much too interesting.

..when I see you taking a toy off your child without explanation
What would your partner say if you took their phone off them without warning or saying anything reasonable?

..when I see you saying 'good boy' or 'good girl' as if they were a pet
Do you want your boss to say to you that you were a 'good girl'/'good boy' at work today for arriving on time?

..when I see you ignoring your child's request to leave
How is it ok that your child has to leave when you say so but you don't have to leave when they say so? Shouldn't there be a bit of give and take and negotiation?

..when I see you shout at your child for crying
What do you want to happen when you cry? Do you wish for loving ears and a hug? Then hug your child too.

..when I see you label your child as being 'difficult'
To me, most (grown up) people I meet are somewhere on the scale of difficult.

..when I see you wanting your child to be/do what you want to be/do
Get a life man!

Rant over, thanks for reading.
