Underwater city of Shichen or " city of the lion»

The Chinese government for some reason decided that the beautiful ancient city of Shichen, founded in 670, is no longer interesting to anyone and ordered it to be flooded in order to build a hydroelectric power station.

Now in the artificial reservoir Qiandaohu rests underwater Kingdom. But, despite the fact that the "city of the Lion" has been under water for more than half a century, all the buildings remained in excellent condition. Even the wooden parts were not affected by the elements.

Why this happens is still a mystery. In the meantime, Shichen has become a place of pilgrimage for divers and paranormal researchers.

Dragon pillar

During the construction of the Yanan Expressway, experts were dismayed. It turned out that in a certain place, the earth can not be drilled by any forces. Although everyone knows that the city of Shanghai stands on soft and pliable soil.

Neither engineers nor scientists could find the cause of the failure until a local monk came to them. The man said that the highway builders want to drill the dragon's tail. But he promised that he would talk to the giant and try to convince him to move his tail.

After a couple of days, the monk returned to the engineers and said that the dragon went to meet the people and agreed to move, but under the following conditions:
• you will need to install a column next to the motorway;
• decorate the building with nine Golden dragons;
• wait a few days.

It looks quite strange, but the builders did everything as the monk said. And just a few days later, the earth was easily drilled!
The dragon stepped aside and allowed the road to be paved.
But not everything ended so favorably. As soon as the problem was fixed, the monk suddenly died.
It is said that in this way the dragon punished the man for telling others about him. Monsters don't like people talking about them.

Shanghai University library

During the intervention of the Manchus in 1644, the local people did not want to give up. The invaders severely suppressed resistance and to discourage the desire to rebel in other areas, they put thousands of people to death.

After the massacre, the Manchus founded the Qin dynasty and built the Shanghai University library on the site of the execution.
All who have visited this place, say: if you go to the flower bed in front of the entrance, you will feel the grave cold.

There are many interesting things in the world. And China is no exception.
