Dive into China: Business, Economics, and Technology

in #china7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemit,

I am really happy to be here to share my China experience with you all.

To introduce myself a little bit, I have been living in China for the past two years in the middle of the tech boom.

I must first admit, I have been incredibly fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time these past two years. It wasn't until later after time passed that I realized how extremely lucky I had got. I befriended some of the brightest minds in the world (yes, in the world) directly contributing to the global economy and business. I lived in the frontier of the emerging technology learning in's and out's of Chinese business culture.

Moreover, I have witnessed the international expansion of Ofo and Mobike, the two biggest bike sharing companies that reshaped the mobility in China from the scratch. I vividly remember my early days in Beijing, where I had to walk at least 30 minutes to get to Beida from my house in extreme pollution every day. Today, Chinese people have quickly adapted to the sharing economy turning Mobike into a $3billion company expanding its territory to lifestyle, autonomous vehicles, and mobile.

I have also personally crisscrossed some of today's biggest AI startup companies in the world such as Bytedance (evaluated at $3 billion today), Sensetime ($637 million), Facetime++($608 million), and Mobvoi ($257 million) at their earliest stages. Not to mention how all these companies are now listed on <100 Most Promising AI Startups Globally> according to CB Insight.

2016 was also the year I had my first exposure to the world of cryptocurrency, blockchain, and mobile e-commerce thank you to my nerdy friends. As I immersed myself more in the world of technology, VC/PE, and startups, I realized my world had changed so much I had to record this journey and share with people.

As I go through my journey, I'd like to go over my mistakes and lessons to help others avoid the same mistakes.
I will also be sharing practical tips you can only find if you lived in China yourself.

Thank you Steemit for having me. Stay tuned to follow the journey.

Here is to the series that would change your life forever.
