Enter the Year of the OX and The Chinese Zodiac
3,000 Years of Spring Festivals and Why the Ox is Special
One the oldest festivals in the world; and the reason all roads lead to home. This is the time in many Asian countries, especially in China, people go back to their hometown to be with their family; if they can. But this year is different, people are advised to stay put and not travel if they don’t have to.
China has 12 years cycle and each of those 12 years is a different animal. This year is the Ox and if you were born in the year of the Ox it could be special, lucky, great, or depending on the cycle it could be the worst year of your life. For each 12 year cycle, there are 5 cycles, equaling 60 years. Each cycle is represented with an elemental sign; wood, earth, fire, water, and metal. The Ox is represented by the metal element.
Overcoming Interaction (also destruction)
Fire melts metal; metal chops wood; wood breaks up the earth; earth absorbs water; water quenches fire.
Let’s not complicate things. If you were born in the year; 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021 you’re an Ox. And this is what it means:
2021 horoscope predictions reveal that the Ox signifies strength through obedience, peace, industry, and unity. It has an affinity with the second of the Twelve Terrestrial Branches known as the ‘Chou’ branch. The Year of the Metal Ox symbolizes loyalty, hard work, determination, confidence, and discipline.

Anyways, I was born in the year of the Monkey and this past Monkey year wasn’t great for me. It was my fire cycle, which is bad luck, and it really was. Maybe there is some truth to the Chinese zodiac.
