BIBLE DOCTRINE SURVEY - OTHER BIBLICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF GOD - NR 8 - GOD IS GRACIOUS!
I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal all that we are going to do in this studies.
" 1 Cor 2: 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God."
If you want to know God to His full extent then I am inviting you to do this studies with me. We are studying other biblical descriptions of God whereby God reveals His character to us. Some would see this also as more of God's attributes.
GOD IS GRACIOUS
MEANING
Grace is God freely and generously giving to us what we do not rightfully deserve.
KEY VERSES
Psalm 111:4
He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.
Nehemiah 9:17 They refused to obey,
And they were not mindful of Your wonders
That You did among them.
But they hardened their necks,
And in their rebellion[b]
They appointed a leader
To return to their bondage.
But You are God,
Ready to pardon,
Gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger,
Ephesians 2:4-9
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Titus 2:11-12
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
Romans 3:22-24
22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all[h] who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
1 Corinthians 15:9-10
9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
EXPLANATION
God's grace is both His unmerited favor bestowed on us and His divine enablement to respond to and serve Him.
Grace is embodied in the person of Jesus Christ.
John 1:14-17 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’” 16 And[e] of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
- Grace overflows from God's goodness and great love.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
The two-fold motivation of forgiveness of sins is God's grace and mercy.
If God were not gracious all men would die in their sins.

Put your answer in the comments, if you participate I will send you a tip and 0.200 SBD to the best answer.
I decided to split 0.300 SBD between the following answers:
@elplaga
I will start from the definition of mercy quoting from you as I see it as the best for now as.. Mercy is God compassionately withholding what we rightfully deserve because of our sin.
And now to what would happen to men if God were not merciful, God thought can only be found his word and to what would will happen is found there as well. So what would have happened can be seen in Genesis chapter 6,the flood which is total destruction, secondly is in Genesis chapter 19, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
@warudo
If God Were Not Merciful, We Would Have No Hope.. merciful is treating people with kindness and forgiveness, not cruel or harsh, having or showing mercy, giving relief from suffering.. For God has consigned all men to disobedience, so that He may have mercy on them all.. Matthew 9:13 -: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."God's Mercy is always granted to those who love the Lord and are willing to change through repentance and through the keeping of God's Law. Men are sinners, if not for his mercy, he would have ended the world, he guides us when we are unconscious and keep taking care of us.. Glory be to God, he's great and merciful.
Thank you @elplaga, @warudo, you will each receive 0.150 SBD Thank you also @godwaves, @ayoyemi, @misterufem and @storytellingza. You will receive a tip in your wallet. Blessings to all!

That has conveyed much , thanks @hope777 for spreading beautiful words everyday .
Thank you @pranithreddy, all the honor, glory and praise to God!
Hi Hope. God is not so much motivated by love, but He IS love ! As the crown of His creation ( so much so that the angels envy us) and being created in His image, He paid a tremendous price on the cross, so ALL of us rebels could return home to Him unhindered. God bless you and keep you *-)
Nice to make your acquaintance @gpa. Thank you for participating in the assignment. Hope that you will follow the studies from now on. He for sure is Love!
God is love. His dealings with us are motivated by His love, His care, His concern and even His correction so we can receive His gift of eternal life as members of His family.God reveals himself for us through His grace.. Bible reference "for God so" love" the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him, should not perish but have everlasting life "..... Jesus tells us that God’s love encompasses the world. That’s everyone. That’s chosen people and not-chosen people..
I'm happy I was choosing as one of the winner.. Thanks ma' am
Thank you for your reply @warudo. It is definitely God's love that motivates Him to be merciful to us, to have sacrificed His son for us!
Thanks for this indepth elaboration of God's grace.
The greatest thing that motivate God to act in Grace towards us is the obedient and submission of Jesus Christ to our heavenly father and to death for the atornment for our sins and for His continous pleading on our behalf.
One other thing that motivate God to act in Grace on our behalf is because of His compassion towards us.
Romans 8:32 says "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"
He gave us His all because of His love and compassion towards us. He's still committed in acting in Grace on our behalf.
Thanks @hope777
Thank you @maintain4real-eu. You are coming from another angle, not about God's love first, but He acts in grace BECAUSE of Jesus Christ offer on the cross for us. If that offer was not brought on our behalf, He would have still been wrathful towards us, but because of that offer, He doesn't see our sin, but the righteousness of Jesus Christ. But in the end, you bring in His love and that is why He gave us His all, His only Son! Thank you for participating!
Hello @hope777
Though i missed the previous assignment(What would happen to all men if God were not merciful?)
We are alive today just by the mercy of God. Lamentations 3:22-23 Says "it is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
If God closes His eyes of mercy for a minute, i wonder who will be able to scape through His wrath. We still have the boldness to go to God and asked for forgiveness after committing the same thing/sin that we've once committed that he forgave us and because He's a merciful God,He still forgive and our hope will be renewed again.
It is the Mercy of God that gives us hope and help us to always look forward to the glorious heaven. No Mercy, No Hope.
May we continue to enjoy the mercy of God and may we never run out of His grace in Jesus name. Shalom
thank you for your in-depth reply. I know this verse but I did not think about it while doing the study and it is so applicable to this study! I just love the word of God! I think this is my new verse to memorise.
Thank you ma.
Though God's grace is an unmeritted favor bestowed towards us because of his love for us. But there are some things that motivate God for example it is written in his word that God resist the proud and give grace to the humble. So I believe humility is one of the factors that motivate God. Thank you
