Using the Sword of the Spirit!

The Bible says that Jesus was tempted by the devil, but he resisted:

"Then Jesus was taken by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil." After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God,
, make these stones become loaves.
Jesus replied: "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city, placed him on the highest part.
from the temple and said: "If you are the Son of God, play from below.
For it is written, 'He will give orders to his angels in their respect, and with their hands they will hold him, so that you will not stumble on any stone.'
Jesus replied, "It is also written, 'Do not test the Lord, your God.'" Then, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and his
He said to him, Jesus said to him, "Get down, Satan!
Because it is written: 'Adore the Lord, your God and only worship him'.
Then the devil left him, and the angels came and served him.
"(Matthew 4: 1-11)

Notice that Jesus overcame the temptation of the devil with the word of Scripture ("it is written ..."), that is, with the Bible.
Therefore, Christians should imitate the behavior of Jesus (Philippians 2: 5) and use the Bible as a weapon against the devil's attacks: "Look at the whole armor of God, so that you can stand firm against the snares of the devil ...
Use ... the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God "(Ephesians 6: 11-17).

This means that whenever we have been tempted in some matter we should look for what the Bible says about it and put into practice the teaching in our lives.
For this, we can count on the help of Jesus, because He was also tempted and understands us and is willing to help us: "Because, considering what he himself suffered when he is tempted, he is able to
to succor those who are also being tempted "(Hebrews 2:18).

The word is the only means to protect our hearts and minds to keep the sources of temptation away from us.
Remember the words of Christ to His disciples in the garden on the night of His betrayal: "Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
(Matthew 26:41)

Most Christians would not openly want to get into sin, but we can not resist falling for it because our flesh is not strong enough to resist.
We get into situations or fill our minds with lustful passions, and that leads to sin.

We must renew our way of thinking as we are told in Romans 12: 1-2.
We should not think like the world thinks, or walk in the same way that the world walks.

When we are tempted to commit some kind of sin, we must invoke God, ask ourselves what Jesus would do in my place and act accordingly.
