I'm a dog person!
I'm a dog person. As in I love dogs, enjoy dogs and yearn for the company of dogs. And as in I decidedly do not like cats. They are pretty, but I do not like them and I do not enjoy them. I do not enjoy their food, their hairballs, their litter boxes, their absences, etc. The list is long.
This may be my opportunity to spark some good-natured debate. I know you are too polite to contradict me when I write about God even though your theology is different from mine. And that you do not wish to criticize me when I tell stories from my life. But if you are a cat person, you are welcome to tell me why and to try and convince me to become one too. It will not be easy though. Did I tell you that I am allergic to cats? I sneeze for hours, waking the dead and longing for death when I encounter a cat. Yup, it is not going to be easy...
I never had any doubt, but scientists recently confirmed that dogs are a lot smarter than cats. A lot smarter. Neuroscientist Suzana Herculano-Houzel from Vanderbilt University confirmed that dogs have about 530 million neurons that calculate behaviour. Cats can only manage 250 million. The Mirror published these findings on 21 June 2018, the very same day I decided to proclaim my preference to you here on Steemit!
“I believe the absolute number of neurons an animal has, especially in the cerebral cortex, determines the richness of their internal mental state and their ability to predict what is about to happen in their environment based on past experience,” explained Herculano-Houzel.
Dogs are smarter! They actually have the most neurons of any carnivore even though their brains are not the biggest. Did you read that, cat person? Dogs are smarter! 😁
Sometimes, as God's children, we are more like cats than dogs. We conclude from all He has done for us, that it is all about us. Our prayers are a list of demands and His will is highly negotiable.
After all is said and done, I do not really care whether you are a cat or a dog person. It may just influence how long I stay when I visit your home... 😏
However, I do want to encourage you to be more like a dog than a cat in your walk with God. Show some intelligence. He is God. You are not.

Some sort of variety stuff after a long time to make some participation. So far came across different types of photographic contests and petal contest and color challenges. But this is an interesting topic since many can express their opinion straight from the heart. So firstly a thanks to this wonderful idea.
Like many countries ours too people are fond of both stuffs, cats and dogs. But as a honest confession the number of street dogs and cats were multiple times than domestic ones in homes. And in reality they are causing big troubles to the normal human beings, the dogs.
The point of discussion is Cat and dogs. What some clue clicked in my mind just after reading your post is Cats look like little selfish than dogs..is it...or they may be more possessive than dogs...Is it so....may be..
But dogs are far more intelligent than cats for sure. There are many stories about the dare devilry of dogs showing its love to its man. My dad was so fond of dogs and he taken care of it in equal way that he does it for his grantchildren,

I am totally obsessed with animals, to the point where I can make myself sick - I will kill a fly and cockroach and mosquito and that is it. I am an animal person but my cat holds my heart in his paws

In my country, pets are not important. I would 70% of the population don't even care about pets. Some of them that keep dogs use them for security purposes, and not because they want to have a pet. As for the cats, it's a no go area. This might sound funny, but most people see cats as witchcraft lol. So, if you want to civil with having a cat as a pet, your relations & friends will nearly bring down your neck. Lol

Sorry, i do not believe dogs, generally speaking, are smarter than cats. Maybe some dogs, like the Border collie.
My cat is way more cautious and mindful than my dog.
The cat comes to me when he needs security and warmth, but he also has a point when he had enough and he goes again his way. The dog never has enough.
The cat had a lot of toys, but his favourite is a piece of rope. From time to time he brings it to me as a gift, so that i rub his head.
I am sorry you are allergic to cats, otherwise you could have been a dog and cat person.
Love both domestic animals, prefer to have dogs where you are able to keep them off the roads and safe, living near busy roads I have witnessed too many cats being hit.
This very original your contest, I imagine that the comments that answer the 2 questions that are at the end will be taken into account .... so here are my 2 answers.
In my country there are places where pets are given for adoption, they collect animals that are abandoned on the street and there are adoption days. There are people who love their pets a lot to the point that pets are part of the family group, in the same way there are areas where they have the pet as an animal of the house. In my case I am one of those who love my pet as a member of the family. Since I was little I have loved animals and I have had many pets (dogs, rabbits, parakeets, lovebirds, turtles and fish), but I have never had a cat.
And I .... Definitely I am a dog person ... I think that dogs show their love towards people better, they are fun, faithful, loving, playful, and above all very intelligent.
