Nothing more important (1/4)
I think parenting is the greatest privilege and responsibility of any person's life. No matter how great your accomplishments or how many thousands celebrate your renown, you will never influence anyone more than you influence your children. The reverse is true too. Your children may experience many things and get to know many wonderful people. However, no one will ever influence them as much as you will.
It would be a terrible thing for you to neglect your most important role in this life. How awful would it be for you not to use every tool and gain every advantage you can to do this task well? I hope you were drawn to this post because you want to know everything you can find out about this responsibility.
Disclaimer: I am not a parenting expert. Just a parent. I do not want to tell you how to parent. I am trying to find my own way. What I want to do is to inspire you to work hard at being a good parent, whatever that means for you. And I want to share a bit of my journey and some of my thoughts with you in the hope that you will share some of yours.
So, this is the start of a series of three posts. Each will make three points.
- Three things I want my children to know.
- Three things I want my daughter to know.
- Three things I want my son to know.
This will be my first series on Steemit. I hope you will contribute freely to the conversation. And help me to improve the quality of my work as well.
I recently heard the following and wanted to share it here. Over the past five years, 27 school shootings took place in America. 26 of the 27 shooters grew up with one or both parents absent or abusive. It has been difficult to confirm the accuracy of this information but it would not be surprising if accurate. Your parenting makes a difference. Yes, you can be a perfect parent and your kids can still mess up. But how likely is that?
It will be impossible to create a comprehensive list. I will make three points in each post. I hope you will add your wisdom and that we will all be inspired.
Please join me.
Great post! I have rarely met children whose lives are a mess thanks to heavy parental involvement. Working hard to be a good parent doesn't mean that you won't make mistakes (you will no matter what), but I always told myself that if my child failed, it wouldn't be for a lack of my effort. I found you through the #payitforward contest. You were featured by @fitinfun. Wish you all the best. Congratulation.
Thank you @energyaddict. I agree. Parenting is the one thing we should never neglect.
And thank you for mentioning where you found this. The #payitforward contest is an awesome idea. I have learned a lot from @fitinfun. Her tutorials have often been the ones that helped me to understand a new concept. This after reading others and just staring at the screen blankly afterwards.
Appreciate you popping in.
All the solution to man's problems can only be met in God.
