BE REVERENT AND HUMBLE

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom… (Psalm 111:10).

“Fear” in the opening verse above doesn’t refer to
being afraid of God, but to have godly reverence. One sure sign of the working of the Holy Spirit in your life is that in every place and at all times you show reverence for spiritual things; plus that, you’re also humble. As long as a believer continues to act unruly, uses harsh, insulting, rude language, and is generally full of pride, he or she is yet to be yielded to the Holy Spirit.

Humility and godly reverence are hallmarks of those who are full of the Spirit. When you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit to work in your life, He produces humility in you and instills in you godly reverence. As this happens, you’ll find that your language is full of love; you become courteous and pleasant in your communication. People who meet you never forget the moment, because of the love, humility and godly reverence that you exude. I urge you to examine yourself always, not to allow any root of pride spring up in your heart.

The Bible says, God resists the proud, but gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). If you want to function with and in God’s abundant grace, be reverent and humble. You must take this very seriously in your life this year, so you can burn and shine and manifest the light of the glory of God to your world as you should.

1 Peter 5:5-6 says, “Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” Take heed to these words. When you’re humble, the Lord will exalt you in due time. Remember, the Holy Spirit lives in you, thus you have in you the ability to walk in humility and godly reverence.
