THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFETY AND SECURITY IN CHILDREN MINISTRY

Safety and Security are crucial in the Children Ministry; this is true for both small and large churches
in urban and rural areas alike.
All activities of the Children Ministry are geared towards bringing young people: Children and teenagers
to learn about and experience the truth of Christ using various methods and activities like Bible lessons
Bible games, activity songs, dance and drama etc. All these takes place at various churches and bible
clubs responding to Jesus's command "Let the little Children come to me, and do not hinder them, for
the kingdom of God belong to such as these" Mark 10:14, (NIV).
Bringing Children to the Lord Jesus Christ and helping them take possession of the kingdom that belongs
to them is the primary assignment of the Children Ministry.

The World recently has experienced an upsurge in activities of criminals and evil men who target churches
Children through wicked schemes such as child abduction, rape, terrorist attacks, child abuse, child
trafficking, ritual killings, vandalism, theft and other violet crimes. This evil trend is prevalent especially
in my country Nigeria.
Insecurity and Unsafe Environment is a threat to life, an occurrence of any harmful incident in the church<
especially in the Children Ministry will affect the child, family as well as the reputation of the church and
that of the Children Ministry.

Unsafe conditions in and around the church environs as well as Unsafe acts expose Children to hazards ;
with potential risks which engender great challenge with the aim of hindering the children from following
Jesus at a tender age.

However, since Safety threat and Insecurity which is a global issue affects the Children Ministry adversely, all
and sundry are therefore, urge to make safety and security our priority in other to safe guard our Children in
our various churches and Children Clubs.

Churches and various Children Ministries can beef up their Security and improve there Safety through
intelligence gathering, proactive measures such as the installation of the CCTV Camera's around and within
the Children Churches and Unit and keeping Security guards at the entrance of Churches and Children Clubs.
Furthermore, by observing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.
