Gospel, Luke 6:36-38

'Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.'

Reflection on the Gospel of the Lord

In today's Gospel, it teaches us to love your enemies and not cursing them. To be forgiving as the Lord Jesus Christ is also a forgiving son of God. To be merciful and not judgmental. Don't condemn and be generous. These are the commands from our loving God, where he wants us to follow. But most of the time, we failed to follow these commands. Is is really impossible to follow those simple commands of our blessed God? If it's impossible then we must open our heart to God's grace to make it possible.

How many times have we suddenly come to the conclusion of what you think of a person that you have just met him for the first time and without even talking to that person? We humans have the tendency to judge someone immediate without knowing the facts first. What's very hard to do is to completely suspend our judgment of others. Most of the time we cannot give them the benefit of the doubt. And it is so easy for us to label a person such as a liar or a hypocrite especially when we’ve been wronged.

One of God's commands clearly states that Don't Judge others. We must do our best not to be judgmental because it is not our place to do that. Let Jesus Christ be the judge. We must trust to do this task because he is just and merciful.

We must also be generous at all times. Jesus reminds us to be generous. We must always share our blessing to the unfortunate people.
