Gospel, Matthew 5:17-19

'Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them.

In truth I tell you, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, is to disappear from the Law until all its purpose is achieved.

Therefore, anyone who infringes even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom of Heaven; but the person who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of Heaven.

Reflection on the Gospel of the Lord

I presume that all Christian reads the Bible. The scriptures of the Bible gives us deep understanding and insight on how God works. It also gives you an idea into God's ways. God works in mysterious way and sometimes it is slow, steady and perfect. Sometimes some of us are not patient enough to wait for God's response especially when we seek help. God always has a plan for us, its not quick but it is consistent and perfect.

In the Old Testament, many prophets came and went to deliver the message of God about the coming of the Messiah. This message took thousand of years to realized. People in the Old Testament are waiting for the coming of the Messiah. Even the Old Testament's law was made to prepare mankind for the coming of the Messiah. But God's perfect plan took time unfold. But it did unfold in His terms.

When Jesus Christ came to this world, he said that he will fulfill the law and the prophets. Jesus will not abolish them but to complete them. But the people wanted to fulfill all things in an instant. They wanted their earthly kingdom to be established and they wanted Jesus Christ to take up His Kingdom right there and then.

But in God's plan, everything is different. Jesus Christ fulfilled the Old Testament's law and prophets but not the way we wanted but according to God's way.

In the Gospel today, it teaches us patience and trust. God has always a plan for us. We must trust him with all our hearts and we must be patient because that plan will be fulfilled perfectly.
