Proverbs 20:30

We grow and change for the better when there are hard times.

The actual verse is "Blows and wounds scrub away evil,

and beatings purge the inmost being."

Hmmmm @goodreads you cant stop amazing me with some of your inspirational qoutes and verses ,a wise man ones said the true strength of a man manifests during his challenge period, and whatever that doesnt kill us will always make us stronger.the best technological inventions ever witnessed by man was also produced during the war (hard times).keep bringing it,you are one of those i meet in this platform i will always stick with.

Thanks buddy! Appreciate it!

Yes indeed! Hard time molds us into better persons. Important also to note that the best steels are those that pass through the hottest furnace. Thanks @goodreads for this one.

My pleasure

Humbling experiences are common to many of the most amazing people I know or have read about.

Adversities can bring us closer to the Lord if we take them positively. They somehow give us a realization of our nothingness apart from Him and our dire need of His strength and power..

@goodreads

I like the way the ISV puts this same verse:

Proverbs 20:30 (ISV)
Blows that wound clean away evil; such beatings cleanse the innermost being.

Put that side by side with this scripture:

Proverbs 27:6 (BBE)
The wounds of a friend are given in good faith, but the kisses of a hater are false

Sometimes God uses those who are close to us to make us better and to correct us from going further into error.

We must be bold enough to speak the truth in love to those who are friends and loved ones of ours.

We should not say we cannot tell them the truth because we love them and don't want them to get hurt. Also, we should not step out of love because we claim we're saying the truth.

We can maintain a healthy balance of both as we do what needs to be done.

Another great revelation. Thanks for sharing this. God bless everyone.

Severe rebukes sometimes do a great deal of good. But such is the corruption of nature, that men are loth to be rebuked for their sins. If God uses severe afflictions, to purify our hearts and fit us for his service, we have cause to be very thankful.

Matthew Henry’s Bible Commentary

So true. Character and perseverance comes to fruition when we lean on Him during those times. Trials are meant to accelerate us!
