in #christianity6 years ago (edited)

TEXT REFERENCE: Galatians 5:25
TOPIC: "Walking With the Spirit"
INTRO: Like a child who starts studying, as well as those who believe in Christ. Walking is the first practice a child needs to learn as he grows up. Like Christians, we should learn to walk in "new life." This is called walking in "new life" because our "former life" is walking on "flesh" or "sin." But now, "Walking in the Spirit," and no longer in the sinful nature.

I. Sinful nature of human.

  1. Human nature is sinful to desire. - Psalm 51: 5, Ephesians 2: 3
  2. The sinful nature still exists among Christians. - Romans 8: 6-8
  3. The sinful nature is our perilous enemy - Galatians 5:17

II. The state between the Sin Nature and the Spirit.

  1. You can not do what you want to do. - Romans 7:15; 19-21
  2. Become captive or prisoner of sin. - Romans 7:23
  3. The situation was pitiable - Romans 7:24
  4. Living in sinful nature can not inherit the kingdom of God. - Galatians 5: 19-21, 1 Cor. 6: 9-10

III. What to do to receive the Holy Spirit.

  1. Must be in Christ. - Romans 8: 2, Galatians 5: 24-25
  2. Walk in obedience to the Word of God. - Psalm 119: 11
  3. Do not give the sinful nature - Romans 8: 6-8, Romans 7:14, Romans 8:13
  4. Attempt to be filled with the Holy Spirit - Ephesians 5:18, 2 Cor. 3:17, Romans 8: 2, Galatians 5: 1

CONCLUSION: I am dedicating this day to be in subjection to the reign of the Holy Spirit and to obey His will and to hear His promptings and guidance so as not to overrule the sinful nature.

APPLICATION: Decide to walk in the direction of the Spirit. Do not let things go wrong with you to return to sinful nature. Gradually go slowly to the Spirit's way of life. Do not be discouraged by the temptations and trials that come to you. Share this truth with your loved ones and friends.

Note: You can freely use this outline for your church preaching or cell group gatherings.
