Friend of God

The past few weeks we have been discussing at Church the topic friend of God. What does it really mean to be a friend of God?

I guess people rarely do not see themselves as God's friend for various reasons. You might feel ashamed of your current life, you may feel ashamed of your past life, your accomplishments, your family, your friends, your environment.

But God came and he accepted us just as we are with EVERYTHING we seem to see as our weak points. He came to give life in abundance.

A question that someone asked me last week got me thinking. The question is this..

"If the relationship you will have with God when we reach Heaven will be exactly the same as your relationship you have with Him here on earth, will you be pleased with that??"

Now THAT got me thinking!! Because you see we live in an earthly world with earthly stuff surrounding us each day and to be quite honest at this stage I am not very pleased with my relationship with God. I am working at it every day and trying to improve every day but it is hard. And I really think there are a lot of people who can relate with this. But the wonderful thing about having God as a FATHER and a FRIEND is that He loves us unconditionally. He loves us despite all our weaknesses.

But I think this is a question we should all answer ourselves. Are we happy with our current relationship with God. Can we really call ourselves a friend of God?
