A DEBTOR TO PREACH THE GOSPEL
14 I AM A DEBTOR BOTH TO GREEKS AND TO BARBARIANS, both to wise and to unwise.
15 SO, AS MUCH AS IS IN ME [Paul], I AM READY TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO YOU WHO ARE IN ROME ALSO."
Romans 1:14,15 (NKJV)
Comment: Whoever is born-again is a debtor to others who are yet to be saved, to preach the gospel to them. And this is applicable most importantly to those who are called into the work of ministry, to train those who are under their leadership to witness for Christ—they should equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12).
Also, this is one of the reasons why you have to live right, as a believer in Christ Jesus, wherever you find yourself. Believers preach the gospel with their lives; how they practice their Christian faith, speaks much more than what they say with their mouths.
Most importantly, attention should be paid to how you live your life as a believer. If what you professed to be is contradictory to what you say with your mouth, It means you are hypocritical.
The emphasis of witnessing or preaching the gospel should be on, Being which preceded Doing. It is not enough to go out there and witness to others, the question is, Does your life, how you live, witness or preach the gospel of Christ? There are lots of pretenders and deceivers who claimed to be believers, witnessing or preaching the gospel of Christ, but their lives, how they live, is contrary to what they professed to be: "SUCH PEOPLE CLAIM THEY KNOW GOD, BUT THEY DENY HIM BY THE WAY THEY LIVE. THEY ARE DETESTABLE AND DISOBEDIENT, WORTHLESS FOR DOING ANYTHING GOOD" (Titus 1:16 NLT).
20 YES, JUST AS YOU CAN IDENTIFY A TREE BY ITS FRUIT, SO YOU CAN IDENTIFY PEOPLE BY THEIR ACTIONS.
21 “NOT EVERYONE WHO CALLS OUT TO ME, ‘LORD! LORD!’ WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. ONLY THOSE WHO ACTUALLY DO THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN WILL ENTER.
22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’
23 BUT I WILL REPLY, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU. GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU WHO BREAK GOD'S LAWS.’ "
Matthew 7:20-23 (NLT)
As long as a believer is still living, witnessing or preaching is a must for whoever claimed to be born-again. Peace.
