JOSEPH A HUMBLE SERVANT OF GOD

As Christmas has come and gone we all have heard the story of Christ birth. But we really never hear much about Joseph he was from the line of David and there are no recorded words in scripture from him. We do know he was devoted and loved God, and what a Godly love he must of had for Mary. We know that he was a carpenter who taught this trade to Christ and made sure he had spiritual training in Nazareth. We know that he died sometime after Christ was left at the temple but before Christ ministry started. Joseph obediently accepted his role as surrogate father to Jesus, instead of subjecting Mary to public scorn he took Mary home to be his wife and did as the angel instructed him in Matt 1:24. He was obedient and took Mary to Bethlehem for the birth of our Savior, then to Egypt then back to Israel guiding him to Galilee where the settled in Nazareth Matt 2:19-23. Every year they went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover which shows us he was a devout follower of the customs of his religion. What great willingness and integrity to be obedient to God's direction. I think the silence of who he was speaks loudly as to why he was chosen for such a time as then, and that applies today sometimes we don’t need to be the life of the party, sometimes we don’t need to be the king of the hill, not always but sometimes, just sometimes God's people should be seen and not heard.
