I Prayed For My Son Just Minutes Before This…

in #christianity7 years ago (edited)

I didn’t recognize the number displayed on the caller ID but answered my cell anyway. “Mom!, he sounded hysterical, " I just got in a wreck! I flipped the car! I FLIPPED the car!"

Hearts are funny things, aren't they? They exist on the inside of all of us, but once you have kids they live on the outside too. And they just aren’t safe there. I mean, they get squeezed, bruised and bleed in ways you never thought possible. And this call had mine torn between palpitating at lightning speed or stopping altogether.

I spoke carefully and calmly asked him the question.“Are you hurt?”

No!, he said frantically, but the car, Mom, the car! They said I’m lucky to be alive!

Three miles from him might as well have been three hundred, but I finally got to the scene.

can’t breathe.

30 minutes.

Just 30 minutes prior to receiving this awful call my boy was on my heart and mind. “Lord, forgive me. I haven’t truly prayed him in a while. You know He needs you. Make yourself real to him. Please draw him to yourself.”

And then this happens.

And it makes me wonder, how do you see this? Do you believe God heard and answered my prayer or do you think that a kind and merciful God wouldn’t have allowed the accident in the first place? Maybe you think the fact that he walked away with only a scratch on his arm and a nick at his pride is evidence of God’s divine protection. But what if he had gotten seriously hurt or worse. Would that make God cruel and heartless?

Hard questions, I know. But all I can tell you is that I'm humbled all over again by the sovereignty of God, and am beyond grateful for my rebellious teenager sleeping soundly in his bed tonight.

And this I know. A loving Father will move Heaven and Earth to pursue His children.

Glad he's okay, realty can be a brutal place.

Don't you know @davett, there is no such thing as "reality or real life" when you are a teenager? Ugh. Hopefully, he realizes now that there is. Thanks for commenting!

Wow, it is humbling reading this.

The timing could only be our Father. Thankful your son is ok, and agreeing with you in prayer for him.

@lydon.sipe, this happened 2 days ago. Still can't believe it. I'm so thankful too.

A truly exceptional story and post of how our God is a worker of miracles. I have seen countless stories of folks who experienced a God moment in their lives. Steemit needs to hear these posts. I am glad you son was protected. Sometimes I think there are angels out there watching out for us. I have a new post or two out there one is spiritual you may enjoy about life. Again thanks for sharing, God Bless you and your family. - Troy

Thank you @enjoywithtroy! Will definitely check out your posts. :)

Quantum entanglement....God's design. I'm so glad your son could call you! Prayers!

Yes! The call was terrible thing to receive, but the alternative of him NOT being able to call me is far worse.

WOW! Glad he is ok!!! I am not a religious woman but I do believe in God and I believe he has a plan for each of us, maybe this is a part of divine intervention.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting @inkdncurvy! I believe that too.

One of my favorite scriptures is this: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -Jeremiah 29:11.

Thankful more than ever for that.

My take on it. Holy spirit knew this was coming, and wanted you to pray for your son. Your prayer was okay... I don't think it was a terrible prayer. It probably saved his life. Really, though, when the Holy Spirit gives you someone to pray for, you could ask God, "What is the issue I am praying for?" At that juncture, God may tell you an accident is coming. Then you would declare the protection over you son. Not to criticize because it is a miracle and God is good! Just something to think about next time.

I used to pray, years ago, "God bless this person, God bless that person." As I got to know him better, God nixed those vain prayers I was making. I only pray for specific things now. "Spirit of addiction, leave that relative" ect. Then results happen. You keep operating in it, you have to watch what you say because it will happen.
