In this Christmas book for kids, Luca was helping decorate for Christmas. Rosie was displaying her homemade decoration to put on the tree. Dad explained that homemade gifts are the most special, and Rosie suggested that the family make each other's Christmas gifts this year. Mama explained that they could have a homemade together Christmas where everybody makes gifts for each other instead of buying them. As we continue this Christmas kids book read aloud, we see Luca in his room writing down ideas for gifts to give to his family. Luca could not think of any good ideas, so he went downstairs and found his mom cooking something in the kitchen as part of her gift. Luka asks his mother what would be a good Christmas gift to give to his family, and his mother suggested making paper origami birds. He went to his room and tried making origami birds, but he could not get the folding just right and instead create a giant mounds of papers. He tried writing down more ideas but nothing good came to mind. As we continue to read along together, we see Luca going to his dad's workshop and hearing a machine humming. Luka asks his father what he's doing, but he says do not come in because he's working on his gift. Luca also asked his father what would be good for him to make, and his father suggested making something to eat, so Luca wrote on his notepad: make honey granola. Luca tried making a recipe of honey granola but ended up eating the entire jar of honey instead of making the gift. He was left with just a big empty jar and a giant belly ache. Next in this Christmas book for kids, we see Luca knocking on his wall and asking Rosie what she is doing. Rosie responded by stating that she is working on her gift and tells Luca that he will find out on Christmas morning what her special homemade gift is. Luka asks Rosie for ideas, and she recommends building something out of snow. Luca goes outside and tries to making a snow bear, but it gets too warm and everything else just leaving him with a long wet scarf. Next in this story book, we see Luca awake on Christmas Eve totally stumped for ideas for his homemade Christmas gift. His mother comforts him by stating that the most important part of Christmas is spending time together. Luca thought about what his mother had told him and got a wonderful idea. He jumped out of bed and went to work trading his Christmas gift of a jar filled with 365 together To-Do’s. He invites Rosie to pick one out and she draws out watch the sunrise from the porch together. The family goes out on the porch and enjoy each other's gifts which include a plate full of blueberry pancakes, father’s large 4-person blanket, and Rosie's homemade Christmas song.
