A Brief Cigar Review - The BLTC Veep
"The Veep" is an exclusive cigar created for the group Cigar VIP. The initial release of 1000 cigars went on sale late April 2016, and sold out a couple weeks later. 100 5 packs of each size (5.5 x 46, and 6 x 48) were blended by Black Label Trading Company owner James Brown. Cigar VIP is a small group made up of Facebook's most active cigar aficionados. The group was founded by yours truly in early 2014.
Wrapper: Ecuador Habano Maduro
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan and Dominican
Size: 5.5 x 46
MSRP: $7
The Veep has a pre-light aroma of sweet raisin, earth, and a light floral note. The construction looks solid, minimal veins, a smooth wrapper, and a lovely pigtail cap. The band is the standard BLTC trademark with a custom foot band bearing the name.
A small clip just below the pigtail produces an open draw. All the Veeps I have smoked have been consistent with the draw and construction overall.
The beginning produces bountiful amounts of smoke while flavor profile quickly develops. You will find notes of dark chocolate, espresso, black cherry, and pepper. I also pick up a slight cedar nuance. The smoke is smooth and easy to retro-hale.
The Veep is actually our 2nd exclusive cigar created for Cigar VIP. The first one was made in half the quantity, by a different producer, and was of lesser quality. Still, it sold out and raised funds for our group.
The funds we raise go toward group projects, such as the Veep, also for contest prizes, giveaways, members in need, or whatever the group leaders vote on. Currently, we have half the profits from the first run of The Veep and we have already paid for the next production.
The Veep is a cigar that stays consistent throughout the smoke session. The flavor profile remains the same, perhaps there is added cashew type note in as well. The ash holds on very well. It isn't overly complex, but also not boring. It has been loved by the vast majority of members, and many outside of CVIP as well.
This particular Veep has about 6 months of age since the sale date, and almost a year since the roll date, age only makes it better. It mellows the flavors and provides a more creamy cigar.
The BLTC Veep is a fantastic cigar, and the price is spot on. Getting your hands on them will be a little tricky, but it is possible, especially with another 1000 cigar release coming up in Jan., or Feb. There is always the regular BLTC line available for purchase now.
Overall the Veep is going to provide something for everyone, it is a well balanced smoke that will appeal to most. Not too full, not too mild.
I rate The BLTC Veep 8.75/10
following... I love your reviews. I just dig you up here on steemit and you are doing something extremely original.
re-steemed
In fact, I am smoking a nightly cigar now. A La Imperosa by Crowned Heads. I already reviewed it in a past post, so just enjoying another... Cheers!
cheers mate.
Wow, thank you! Your comment was encouraging.
I appreciate the resteem as well. I know cigars well..., but writing, heh, Steemit has been my classroom and teacher. I hope to improve even more, and expand to not be boring. Also, I might seek help for my over-use of commas, but I like them, it is a pause just like how I talk, and how my thought process works...
:-P
I know there isn't a large cigar smoker user-base, but of course as Steemit grows that will change.
Thanks again, following you as well!
