Finally a movie I wanted to watch and I did watch!

Has been a while posting Japanese flyers. Mostly because I want to talk about films I have seen and recently I have been watching mostly series.

Don't want to fully spoil the content but I will a little, so keep on reading at your own risk. That said it is not a complex tale and the beauty in all its colorful glory is more in the execution rather than the story.

This being an H.P. Lovecraft story has attracted many viewers to the screen.
Unfortunately I haven't read it so I cannot comment on whether it did hit the spot and was a faithful adaptation but again I think there is a simplicity beyond the complexity of the Universe. The interpretation is up to us.

The script lacks in my opinion and the story telling is slow at the beginning not giving much in terms of character background which results in the viewers not to being able to empathise later on when everything transcend into psychedelic chaos!

But the fun starts in the second part when the events trigger by the meteorite escalate in to an Acid orgy of colors and madness!!

The shots and photography are good and well curated and you are guaranteed some nice creative entertainment.

Unfortunately there is very little action and seems to be a little confusing especially there is almost no separation between the insane and the sane... Perhaps it's on purpose. An attempt to bring us in a kinda dream state condition?

The horror happens rarely but when it does it's done well, twisted and scary stuff enriched by a wonderful soundtrack that keeps going throughout all the journey (to hell!).

I particularly like that the brutality of the events seems to be completely amoral, given that the "the force" "visitor" (or whatever you are inclined to call them..) has no evident intention or meaning to its actions.

It's an original concept in a sea of Monsters/Demons/Killers all driven by that old Good/Evil or religion/society paradigm.

This is now on Netflix and it's worth checking out in my opinion!
