Google has made Chrome 105 available in the Stable channel, which is of particular concern to Apple because of the User Agent Client Hints.

At the beginning of August, Google made available a new version of its browser with an updated Bluetooth API, which has been the subject of numerous criticisms due to some aspects that could involve the violation of users' privacy. Along the lines of what has already happened, over the last few hours "big G" has released Chrome 105 and even in this case the concerns it is arousing are not few, especially for Apple.

Chrome 105: Client Hints worries Apple

Going into more detail, Chrome 105 brings various changes, including those related to the User Agent Client Hints which is an API that exposes information on the activities and conditions of the device to allow developers to make web pages respond to the various hardware dynamically.

Client Hints is not new, however, as it began to be talked about as early as March, with the release of Chrome 100, when Google warned developers that they would have until 2023 to migrate to this API instead of depending on user strings. -agent.

However, Chrome 105 makes some changes whereby developers can request information about the height of the browser window, instead of just the width as it previously happened, a detail that Google says is useful for making sure that the images are displayed in correct way, but which alerts the WebKit team of the Cupertino company.

There are also other noteworthy changes, although not controversial, such as the introduction of a global event handler, the explicit marking of the resources that should be blocked from rendering, the introduction of a system for easier access to TransformStreamDefaultController, the added new modes for browsing classes and the ability to get a writable directory in the same prompt as the readable directory.
In addition, major changes have been made to the audio input and output mechanisms, so streaming and video conferencing applications should explicitly request to receive non-system audio. There is also a new method for resolving imported URLs and a Media Source Extensions (MSE) API.
