We all are aware of Steemworld.org and use this for checking our account statistics. After logging in and coming to the main interface with all other details there is a bar that shows our voting CSI.

I had no idea about its importance and how it changed. A few days back I had no CSI and it showed null "?" That pinched me to figure out what is the logic behind this. My quest for search took me to this SteemWorld ~ Newsletter #2 / January, 2018 by @steemchiller.

As per the attached newsletter and my understanding,

What is the Community Support Index?

What is Voting CSI?

The value that is generated according to our voting behavior is known as Community Support Index.

CSI Value Elements

What does Voting CSI comprise?

As you can see from this, there are 3 main elements (Self-vote percentage, Number of upvotes, and number of accounts voted by you.)

The very first number represents our voting CSI value.

1) Self Upvote Percentage: These are the votes that a person makes to his own post. Self-votes have a negative effect on CSI and we should avoid it. Instead, we should utilize our votes to help other people grow.

2) No. of Votes: The next element represents the total number of upvotes we have made during the time period of 7 days.

3) No. of Accounts: The next figure shows the total number of accounts voted by you.

4) Duration: The data is collected and shows up for the last 7 days only.

Different kinds of CSI

CSI Value can be of three types according to your voting behavior.
It can be positive, negative, or nul[?]

  1. Positive CSI: Your CSI becomes positive when you upvote posts from various community members. The more upvotes you give, the higher your CSI will be.

  2. Negative CSI: Your CSI becomes negative when you Engage in excessive self-voting or repeatedly vote for the same account.

  3. Null[?]: Your CSI value remains null if you don't utilize your voting power and fail to reach the threshold of upvoting at least 35 posts.

Key Points

Some key notes for our better understanding are;

  • Self-votes have a negative effect on our CSI.
  • If you continuously voting the same person repetitively, it will also have a negative effect on your CSI value.
  • The available SP has no effect on CSI.
  • You have to vote at least 35 accounts to generate a CSI Value. If you are below this it shows "??". Which means you are not interacting much with your upvote power.

A lot of newcomers and others don't understand what voting CSI is or how it works. It's really important to be part of the community and help each other out. When we upvote other people's posts we actually uplift each other's content, we create a culture of positivity and support.

So, let's keep uplifting each other by upvoting and spreading the love within our community! Just know, that the higher your CSI value, the better you're doing and the more you're supporting.

Thank you for reading it. Hope so it will add a little value and will be helpful to you all in some instances. See you all soon with another piece of writing.
