The Power of Wildness and Freshness: Cooking Live Shrimps and Rice Field Eel

in #cn7 years ago

Tired of Farm-raised, frozen shrimps from super market? Check what I bought from the farmers market: wild caught shrimps and rice field eel. To guarantee freshness, I did the cooking the same day I got the shrimp and eel.

  1. Freshwater prawn with cucumbers

This type of shrimp has small sizes and has a sweet and crispy flavor. I added cucumbers to absorb the gravy of fresh shrimps.

Close up, they are still jumping while I was taking pics...

And done!

  1. Rice Field Eel with garlic, union and pepper
Rice field eel is not the same type of species as eel we normally have, but they have similar texture and taste. They do not live in the sea, but in rice fields. Fresh eel, I asked the butcher take out bones for me, for me I even can not grab one out of the water as their skin is so slippery. In the pic they are already boneless

Cut them into pieces, I used scissors.

Garlic, unions and peppers, all in small pieces

Heat the oil and fry the garlic into brown

Add union and pepper

Then add eel, and about half cup of water to boil for about 3 minutes. Seasoned with salt, soy-sauce is optional.

And done!

Good food. Thanks for sharing :D

The food looks good ,but there are only minor differences regarding the health benefits of farm raised or wild cought shrimp.

Eel is yucky lol
