Lost in Moscow
The word “lost” here, refer to getting lost.
Lost = not knowing where you are and how to get to a place. (Cambridge Dictionary)
Having been to Moscow and Saint Petersburg, I found that Saint Petersburg was far more suitable for tourists.
Metro is tourist’s first choice of transportation. However, there is only Russian in Moscow metro. Fine, I still can recognize the symbols. But, even if you are in the right direction, you’d find the information board saying different from what you believe the place you are. (Of course, in my eye, these are all symbols lol) Theoretically, those signs should point to the line of that metro station or next station (at least the oldest metro in the world, Tube is like that) But for me, I didn’t know which direction I should look for, to left or right? What’s more, I was not sure that station I was in if was on the same line. Even though I asked the local for help, they took few minutes to figure out the direction as well. Well, I know I was saying like a mess. But in reality, I was really confused.
Next, the exit of metro station in Moscow had no marks. That means no Exit A / B / C…etc. If there is only one exit, of course no problem at all. But the point is sometimes there are some exits. And one trouble is some exits are connected to another metro station. So that means I have to think carefully where am I before I go out of the exit. I remember once, I was looking for a restaurant. Google map said that it took only 5-minute walk from the metro station to there. But accidentally, I walked to another metro station. Then I took the metro back to the same station and walked again. Searching around the exit, finally, I found the restaurant.
So in Moscow, be prepared of getting lost.
On the other hand, the design of Moscow metro is really incredible. It must be another kind of ‘lost’ for photography lovers and tourists.
